Fifteen African nations on Thursday declined and 28 upheld the vote as the UN General Assembly in New York predominantly supported a goal denouncing Russia's intrusion of Ukraine almost a year prior.
The goal required the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine and a stop to battling. The action isn't lawfully restricting however holds political weight.
It was supported by 141 countries with 32 declining and seven democratic against. Close to half of the abstentions were from Africa.
South Africa, Ethiopia, Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Namibia, Focal Africa Republic, Congo-Brazzaville, Gabon, Guinea, Mozambique, Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe avoided in the vote.
Eritrea and Mali were the main African nations who casted a ballot against.
Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Guinea, Eswatini and Guinea-Bissau didn't partake in the democratic.
Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana and Kenya were among the African nations who supported the vote.
Ukraine's Leader Volodymyr Zelensky invited the goal which he depicted as a strong sign of worldwide help.
