Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has denied any bad behavior following reports a fake payment was followed to his login access.
As per him, there is no bit of substance in the attempt to associate him with the fake payment for school placement.
He was referring to a claim made by the former Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Opoku-Amankwa when he addressed the Investigative Committee probing the matter.
The claim indicate that after a test was done using the log report on the system, the record used to place a student at a 'Category A' school was traced to that of Dr Adutwum which is being dealt with by one Ms Vera Amoah.
Setting the records straight, the Minister expressed it is basically impossible that he will risk his reputation on the line way that he has been championing free SHS.
"There is no iota of truce because Professor Opoku Amankwa made that statement and News media additionally announced. It appears there is an intentional attempt by certain people to run down the great work we are doing. It is basically impossible that I as a champion of free SHS will destroy it," he said in a interview on Accra-based Peace FM.
He added he could not have possibly deserted his work in US to come to Ghana if it somehow happened to be involved in scandal.
Dr Adutwum, be that as it may, conceded there is a convention system through which pastors, church, and old student among others exploit to get wanted schools for their family members and colleagues.
"For what reason will I misuse my office and take money? I have used my money to build a school for the government for Bosomtwe, I'm supporting 100 student in my constituency who are studying medicine. So for what reason will I take monies from people?" he tested.
Half a month prior, The News media released the 'School placement for sale' confession that revealed the corruption in Ghana's school placement system.
Following the report, it was found that some eight people had been arrested by the Police and charged. None of the eight suspects works at the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Computerized School Selection and Placement System Secretariat or the Free SHS Secretariat.
The News media also observed that protocol placement into the 'Category A' schools after payments were done must be endorsed by the Minister of Education and the Director General of the GES.
