The National Democratic Congress (NDC) authoritatively shut nomination for the flagbearer election on Friday, February 24, 2023.
At the end of nomination, four competitors which incorporate former President John Dramani Mahama, picked forms to contest in the election.

Mr. Ernest Kwaku Kobeah, who is the newcomer, hails from Asante Mampong in the Ashanti District. He accepts the NDC needs an exceptionally youthful and dynamic competitor who can lead the party in the 2024 and 2028 decisions separately.
He said his vision is to construct another Ghana should the agents offer him the chance to run the party to triumph in 2024.
Mr. Kobeah in this way encouraged the party to cease from a circumstance by which "moneycracy" will overrule the guiding principle of the party.
