Aggrieved Staff of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have suspended the partial withdrawal of service in the entirety of its five operational areas.
The strike was to request Osmani Aludiba Ayuba, Managing Director of NEDCo, to willfully resign or be removed from office by the Board of Directors.
The furious NEDCo staff blamed the Managing Director for neglecting to improve on the company's finance situation.
"Our funds from 2019 to date has been regrettable. As a matter of fact, our income is frightfully terrible to the extent that we can't pay our parties (contractors). In Bolgatanga, our contractors protested on account of work they have done for NEDCo. From January-December 2022, we can't pay thus that is the means by which awful the situation is."
They also blamed the Managing Director of incompetent saying it has resulted in the company losing revenue.
The National Labour Commission (NLC) on Friday summoned the upsetting staff for a meeting after a complaint by the Minister of Energy.
In a letter, the staff union requested that every one of its members resume work viable Friday, February 17, 2023, in compliance with the NLC directive.

UPDATE ON VRA/NEDCo STAFF GROUP RESOLUTION FOR THE REMOVAL OF MR OSMANI ALUDIBA AYUBA AS THE MANAGING DIRECTOR, NEDCO
The Staff Groups leadersship of VRA/NEDCo wish to bring to you a report on the Resolution passed by staff in every one of the five (5) Operational Areas in NEDCo at emergency meeting held from January 06, 2023, to January 10, 2023, calling on Mr. Osmani Aludiba Ayuba, the Managing Director, NEDCo to voluntarily resign or be removed from office by the NEDCo Board of Directors on or before the end of January 2023.
At an emergency meeting held by Staff in each of the five (5) Operational Areas including head office for February 16, 2023, Staff avowed the prior resolution for the removal of Mr. Osmani Aludiba Ayuba as Managing Director of NEDCo and furthermore voted massively for the heightening of the industrial action.
Staff Group Leadership was served later at night with a request to show up before the National Labour Commission on Monday, February 20, 2023, in Accra. The commission additionally coordinated that we stay all continuous industrial action or potentially any expected activity and show up as planned.
Considering this most recent turn of events, Leadership directs that we suspend the halfway withdrawal of service and resume all services compelling Friday, February 17, 2023, in consistence with the NLC directive.
Leadership will update Staff on the following line of action after the meeting at the National Labour Commission on Monday.
