Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa is being requested by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin to show up before parliament over the dubious proposed Constitutional Instrument (CI).
The recently proposed instrument by the EC makes the Ghana Card the main distinguishing proof report to be use to ensure citizenship whenever passed.
Additionally inborn in the CI. is a necessity that people who need to register to do as such at an EC region office.
On Thursday, February 23, the EC was addressed in Parliament by Deputy Commissioner, Bossman Asare yet was gone against by the Minority Caucus in the House which provoked a few disagreement as Parliament sat profound into the evening.
Among the people who went against the laying of the new CI was Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu who brought up that the necessities in the new CI would disappoint Ghanaians.

However, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu couldn't help contradicting the Minority leader's interest and explained that the greeting conveyed to the EC didn't explicitly demand that Lady Jean Mensah herself show up before the House.
The Suame legislator expressed that, "the invitation was to two institutions and that his inclination and the inclination of the Majority is that the two institutions ought to be addressed by their heads. Despite the clarification given by the Majority Leader, the Speaker said that the new CI had serious ramifications and accordingly the EC Chairperson herself should show up before the House to make explanations.
