Justice Olalekan Oresanya of an Ikeja High Court has granted N5million damages against singer Ikuforijimi Olaitan Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade over a spilled sex tape with a lady via social media app, Snapchat.
In the judgment trending on the online, Justice Oresanya depicted the activity of the singer, in covertly recording an unequivocal sex with a lady and from there on spilling it online as "detestable, terrible, tacky and classless."
The sex tape of the singer had surfaced online in February 2022, without the information and assent of the lady associated with the video.
The spilled video ignited public shock, and constrained Oxlade to delicate a conciliatory sentiment to his fans and to the lady in the video.
The lady, John Gift, had documented a suit before the court on March 15, 2022 looking for N20million damage and a statement that the respondent (Oxlade's) demonstration of recording his unequivocal sexual demonstrations without her insight and agree added up to blatant negation of empowering regulations and a gross infringement of her central privileges to respect, security and independence from separation.
Subsequent to hearing direction for the petitioner the adjudicator had set for judgment when gatherings consented to decide on genial goal through an assent judgment.
Conveying judgment regarding this situation, Justice Oresanya chastised the singer and cautioned him against such act in his relationship with the other gender later on.
Throughout preliminary, the appointed authority upbraided Oxlade for treating the legal cycle with discourtesy and blamed his attorney for helping him to defile the sanctuary of equity.
By the assent judgment, Oxlade is to pay the N5million damage granted against him to the petitioner in two portions of N2million and N3million respectively.
The court judge gave a request for never-ending directive against the petitioner from starting any further legitimate cycle or any interaction in regard of current realities and matters leading to the suit, and from founding or talking about the issues comprised in the case on any stage, and before any outsider.
Justice Oresanya reprimanded parties, their privies, appoints, specialists, replacements, legitimate insight, and individual delegates consent to keep up with secrecy of all non-public data and materials relating to the suit, and the Terms of Settlement.
He requested that failure of one or the other party to stick to the terms shall entitle the affected party for damages for such break, including all possible wounds caused because of such divulgence.
