Spain's 2010 World Cup-champ Sergio Ramos says he is retiring from international football with a "heavy heart" in the wake of being informed he won't be picked by new boss Luis de la Fuente.
The 36-year-old Paris St-Germain defender is Spain's most capped player ever with 180 appearances.
He has not played for Spain since March 2021 and was avoided with regards to former coach Luis Enrique's Reality Cup crew.
"The opportunity has arrived," Ramos posted via web-based entertainment on Thursday.
"An opportunity to express farewell to our cherished and energizing public group.
"It's the end of a road that I trusted would loosen up further and would end with a superior desire for my mouth, on a standard with all the achievement we accomplished with La Roja."
Ramos said he came to the decide in the wake of having a call with De la Fuente, who took over from Enrique after Spain were taken out of the World Cup by Morocco in the last 16.
"Toward the beginning of today I got the call from the ongoing mentor who let me know that he doesn't and won't depend on me, no matter what the level I can show or how I proceed with my brandishing profession," Ramos said.
A 2010 World Cup winner and consecutive European hero with Spain, Ramos made his global presentation matured 18 of every 2005.
