Muslims across the country are starting the 30-day religious fasting on Thursday, March 23 as the moon has been sighted in Bawku in the Upper East Region.
This was confirmed by the Bawku Chief Imam.
At sunrise on Thursday, March 23, Chief Imam Sheik Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu directed that in view of religious foundation all Muslims in Ghana notice the obligatory fast.
"By the report we got from Bawku and the source coming from the Bawku Chief Imam, the moon has been sighted in Bawku," Chief Imam's Representative Sheik Aremeyaw Shaibu said on Wednesday.
Ramadan is the 10th month on the Islamic calender.
It is seen with the required fasting to honor the main disclosure of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed.
It will be delegated with Eid al-Fitr on Saturday, April 22.
