The Municipal Director for the Suame Municipal Assembly, Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye has announced his intention to run for the Suame Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party.
Mr. Boakye, who is the MCE for Suame, in an interview with Kojo Marfo on AbusuaNkommo at Abusua965FM said his decision would depend on whether or not the incumbent MP would run for re-election.
“If the time comes and my MP decides not to run again, I will go”, he emphasized. Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye declaration comes at a time the Mayor of Kumasi, Samuel Pyne has also declared his intention for the seat.
When asked he’ll be contesting Samuel Pyne, he said “No, I am contesting the seat not him”. He further stressed "Samuel Pyne is my brother I can talk to him to step down, if he decline and still want to contest, I am in to win".
Meanwhile, the national executive of the New Patriotic Party is yet to fix a date for the conducting it’s presidential and parliamentary primaries as well as modalities that will guide the exercise.
