The Information Service Department (ISD) of the Ministry of Information has sent off another platform pointed toward fighting the developing scourge of deception in the country.
The platform which is a site called Ghana Today is a dependable news portal that gives precise information on Government projects, programs, communications and positions.
The send off of the stage occurred on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Ministry's premises, and was gone to by a few government authorities, partners, and individuals from the media.
Talking at the event, the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, expressed that fighting deception is a basic undertaking in the present information age that requires a complex methodology. He expressed one of such methodologies is creating instruments that will assist with checking and track the spread of falsehood via web-based entertainment stages and other internet based channels.
"As you might know, a critical part of our populace presently depends on online platforms and other social media platforms for information. It is likewise critical to take note of that a few corrupt people have utilized a large number of these portal and social media platform to engender lie and falsehood. This peculiarity is progressively subverting our majority rule government.
"The rollout of this site will, subsequently, help the Division in the battle against deception by giving direct information from Ministries, Department and Agency (MDAs) about crafted by Government and turning into a vault of all happenings in government. It will give realities about Government ventures and projects, full messages of all addresses by heads of MDAs, official interchanges and distributions, strategies, and program reports to decrease the degree of distortions and at times altogether deception on the web," he said.
He said the launch of the platform forms a necessary piece of the re-association and retooling project of the Department pointed toward preparing it to serve more crowds with its work even as the times and media utilization designs change.
On his part, the Acting Chief Information Officer of the ISD, Mr. David Owusu-Amoah encouraged Ghanaians to utilize the Ghana Today platform and to be cautious in their utilization of online substance.
