In a recent interview with Nhyira FM, John Dumelo stated that hiring people is how he supports the economy of his nation.
He claims that his trip to the northern region of Ghana, where he discovered vast tracts of undeveloped land, was the catalyst for his decision to enter the agricultural business.
"Ten years ago, I was traveling through Ghana's northern region when I noticed vast, rich fields by the side of the road, which could assist the nation grow and produce more food to feed the nation. So I decided to focus on farming," he stated.
The actor cum farmer also emphasized the necessity for the nation to increase its agricultural investment. If we continue to do nothing, one day we will import eggs, he said. "When you get to our supermarkets, most of the fruits, ginger, and other stuff are imported, which should not be allowed."
The NDC's candidate for the Ayewaso West Wuogon seat in 2020 says he wants government assistance to grow his agricultural enterprise.
"I don't receive any assistance from the government; I pay for whatever I do on the farm. I am confident that the government will support me and that I will be included. It is quite expensive because I pay all of my employees with my own money; for I'm glad about it because I've given others a job. I can hire 300–400 people a year.
Farming is currently expensive, although there are large streams like the Volta River, Tunu Dam, and others that can be utilized to irrigate the nation's crops. We will therefore have less of a shortage of tomatoes, maize, and onions if we begin irrigation farming, he stated.
