Sarkodie claims that he had to sneak into the recording studio without his team's knowledge in order to record the song.
According to a recent interview with former Breakfast Club anchor Angela Yee, unlike popular belief, his crew was unaware of and unsupportive of his conduct.
"People believe that my team is in favor of what I said publicly. Since I was on tour at the time, none of them were aware that I had made the record, he admitted.
Sarkodie claimed that he did not tell his team mates about his strategy out of concern that they may persuade him otherwise in the interview. He admitted that he is not fully proud of his attitude to the situation.
"Occasionally, the lyrics will come to me right away while I am experiencing a certain emotion. It wasn't like the entire team got together and said this is how things should proceed, so I slipped into the studio to even record this. I didn't let anyone hear it because I didn't want to hear any advice; I simply wanted to act how I felt at the time and deal with the consequences later. Personally speaking for myself, I didn't," he said.
Sarkodie also mentioned that he received numerous phone calls from various persons after he released the song, which had previously been leaked online.
"Yes, there were numerous calls. In the heat of the moment, my lawyer—who ordinarily would have been the first to strike me—was the one I didn't hear from.
