John Dumelo, a Ghanaian actor and farmer, has indicated that he will expand his business into the production of cannabis as a result of the Narcotics Control Commission Amendment Bill 2023 becoming law.
John claims that he is quite enthusiastic about the development because it is a "defining moment in Ghana's history."
"I'm thrilled that the Narcotics Control Commission Amendment Bill 2023, which aims to decriminalize the growing of cannabis for medical and commercial uses, has been approved by the legislature. A turning point in Ghana's history has occurred, he tweeted on July 13th.
He stated, "As a farmer, I'm absolutely looking forward to adding the production of cannabis to my portfolio for medical or industrial uses. Godspeed to Ghana.
On July 12, 2023, the Narcotics Control Commission Amendment Bill passed its third reading.
According to the terms, the passage makes it possible for businesses to obtain permits to produce plants with a maximum dry weight tetrahydrocannabinol content of 0.3%.
The measure said that industrial-scale growing might be done for fiber, seed, or medical purposes.
