The B.E.T. Award-winning rapper Sarkodie has finally responded to the claims made against him in Yvonne Nelson's autobiography with the "diss" song "Try Me."
In a recent interview with former Breakfast Club anchor Angela Yee, Sarkodie claimed that he chose not to address it in the media but rather through music in order to preserve the way it was presented.
Since it is such a delicate subject, he said, "I did not do any media tours or press around it for fear that I could lose how I will like to portray how I feel about it.
The "No Pressure" singer went on to explain that even though he wasn't fully pleased with how he handled the situation, it was something he wanted to get off his chest.
"This is not the first time I've written songs about problems, or maybe just a line or two because, I don't know, there's a certain vibe I hate to feed into, especially about it because I might lose my cool. This is why I don't like to talk about it. "So, for this situation, yeah, exactly, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm super proud of everything. It's just in the moment how I felt, whether it be my truth, it should have been a way that you could have said it," he said.
Sarkodie went on to voice his disappointment at Yvonne's decision to publish the incident in a book for world to read rather than contact him to discuss it.
"Two persons are speaking in this chat. Since it also impacts me, we could have discussed it, but since Sark can't communicate, some people feel they can say anything and get away with it. Every now and then, you just have to," he continued.
