In a compelling case, Deborah Seyram Adablah, the plaintiff, is suing Ernest Kwasi Nimako, the bank's chief financial officer, for allegedly breaking a promise to look after her. The High Court will soon issue its ruling in this case.
The verdict is anticipated to be announced in Accra today.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, during the case's final court appearance, Justice Olivia Obeng Owusu ordered Deborah Seyram Adablah to turn up a disputed car to the court's registrar.
The Honda Civic, which has been at the center of the legal issue and is valued GH$120,000, will be kept by the court until the case is finally settled. Since then, the Court Registrar, with support from the Police, has successfully removed the vehicle from her home.
Significant case
In her lawsuit, Deborah Seyram Adablah claims that Ernest Kwasi Nimako, whom she refers to as her "sugar daddy," made a number of promises to her. The lawsuit was filed on Monday, January 23, 2023. The plaintiff claims that Nimako promised to buy her the automobile, pay for her housing for three years, give her a GH3,000 monthly stipend, marry her after divorcing his wife, and give her a lump sum to launch a business.
Although the car was initially registered in Nimako's name, the plaintiff alleges that he later seized it back, denying her access to it after only a year. She further claims that despite pledging to pay for three years of housing, Nimako only paid for one.
Ernest Kwasi Nimako was also ordered by Justice Obeng Owusu's decision to provide the High Court Registrar with all documentation pertaining to the in dispute vehicle. Additionally, it was ordered that neither the plaintiff nor the defendant should use social media or other traditional media to make any public statements about the case.
Both sides are looking forward to the impending decision since it will decide how the case will turn out and handle the accusations brought against Ernest Kwasi Nimako by Deborah Seyram Adablah. The court's ruling is anticipated to clarify the two parties' agreement and its alleged subsequent breach.
Due to the severity of the allegations and the participation of a well-known financial person, the case has garnered public interest. Stakeholders in the case are closely monitoring the proceedings in the High Court in Accra as the legal procedure nears its end.
Reliefs
The plaintiff is asking the court to issue an order telling the "sugar daddy" to give her the car back and change the title to her name.
As per the agreement between the plaintiff and the defendant, she is also requesting that the court compel the defendant to pay her the lump sum. This will allow her to "start a business to take care of herself."
The court could even mandate that the "sugar daddy" pay the
She requests once more that the court compel the defendant to cover her medical costs due to a "side effect of a family planning treatment" that the defendant advised her to undergo in order to avoid becoming pregnant.
