The popular Ghanaian musician Kelvyn Boy recently revealed an amazing and unexpected fact regarding one of his successful songs.
He said that 'Down Flat' was written and recorded in just 25 minutes, providing insight into the musical composition process.
Having the ability to produce quality songs in a matter of minutes, Kelvynboy said that recording the song was not a planned activity. He admitted that as soon as he heard the music, he put together harmonies, and after putting a few lines together, the smash song was born.
The 'Momo' hitmaker said this in an exclusive conversation with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.
He clarified, saying, "There are times when I'm not sure how I do it. In 25 minutes, Down Flat was captured on tape. Sometimes it seems as though I had planned the entire recording. I began humming the tunes as soon as I heard the beat at home. Simply said, the first verse came first. The second verse was written afterward since I was looking for a new style.
You may remember that the song had some success after its 2022 debut. It was listed among the Top 50 Afrobeats Songs on Billboard's chart, with other major afrobeats artists like Wizkid, Tems, Davido, Fireboy DML, and a plethora of others.
It went on to become a huge smash all over the world, dominating trends on TikTok and other social media sites. The remix of what Kelvyn Boy refers to as his biggest song ever was eventually made available. Nigerian superstar Tekno and Jamaican musician Stefflon Don both appeared on the remix.
