On TV3's New Day program, Wendy Shay said she didn't let the lack of encouragement early in her career deter her. She, on the other hand, used it as inspiration to strive even harder.
Wendy talked about enduring racial prejudice throughout her youth in Germany and being shocked to experience the same treatment there. She didn't let the hostility, though, impact her. Wendy credited the suffering she had following the tragic death of Ebony and her subsequent contract with Ruff Town Records for making her resilient.
As a budding artist seeking fame, she observed that media attention—whether favorable or unfavorable—worked in her advantage.
I raised my eyebrows when I received the same attitude from folks because I lived in a place where I believed racism to be a real phenomenon.
"However, it also arrived at the ideal time for my career. The moment I entered the field was extremely important to everything I have accomplished.
"Every artist hopes for recognition, and I did, whether it was good or terrible. When I had the chance, I didn't abuse it. You just make lemonades when life gives you lemons, he said.
