When a loved one passes away tragically, there can be a flurry of sensations and concerns, and for Cecelia Williams, the mother of the late Ghanaian actress Suzzy Williams, those feelings are definitely overwhelming.
The mother of the well-known actress, who tragically perished on September 8, 2005, in a car crash on the Labadi-Nungua highway after her Liberian boyfriend, Edwin Eastman, allegedly crashed her new Mitsubishi Pajero, has made it clear that, if she is to place blame, she will hold Mr. Williams, the father of their daughter, responsible for the death of their daughter.
The late actress's mother said during a No1 FM interview that she would not blame anyone in the entertainment industry for her daughter's passing, instead placing the responsibility on her own husband for denying her (Cecelia) the chance to pursue a career in acting and to train Suzzy the way she wanted to.
"I won't lay too much responsibility on anyone. Since charity starts at home, if I wanted to point the finger at anyone, I would start with my own husband. Because I am the mother and a mother raises children, I will start by blaming the male. I will approach him if there is a problem, but he will ignore me. Every night whilst she was alive, I would emerge from my room to find him seated at the dining table with her. I would then inquire as to what was going on. She claimed, "My husband will tell me Suzzy won't go anywhere when I tell her to go home or sleep.
Cecelia Williams added in the same interview that anytime she warns her husband about Suzzy's behavior or notices a discovery about their daughter, he used to call her excessively superstitious. She went on to claim that her husband frequently avoided her when she tried to bring up Suzzy, highlighting the fact that this behavior persisted even as her daughter was fighting for her life in the hospital following the horrific tragedy.
