"Artiste of the Year" Black Sherif has explained why his debut album, "The Villain I Never Was," only had Burna Boy.
Black Sherif claims that Burna Boy's sincere respect for his craft made their first meeting feel different.
"It hardly even seems genuine. It wasn't about the music when I initially met him. He expressed satisfaction for my sound, and I did it without any filters. I felt differently about what I do as a result, the speaker told Larry Maddowo on CNN.
The "The Villain I Never Was" debut album by Black Sherif, which was released in October 2022, broke numerous musical limits.
According to Black Sherif, he decided to record the album alone because he had "a lot to talk about."
"I believe that developed while the album was being made. When I was in my head at the time, it was quite intense for me. I slept with the studio just in front of me. So that's my studio when I wake up.
I had plans to include features in the album, but when I was making the album and had completed about 70% of it, I thought I could do it alone because I had a lot to say, he said. "I made so many songs at that time and I felt like the story I was going to tell I could tell it alone."
