According to police, Cardi B won't be charged for throwing her microphone into the audience at a show in Las Vegas last weekend.
"This case has been closed due to a lack of evidence following a careful assessment and consultation with the Clark County District Attorney's Office. In connection with this case, no charges will be brought, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement to CNN on Thursday.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's swift and diligent handling of this situation is appreciated, the attorneys for Cardi B, Drew Findling, David Chesnoff, and Richard Schonfeld, stated in a statement released Thursday afternoon.
A concertgoer reported to the LVMPD on Monday after being "struck by an item that was thrown from the stage," police told CNN earlier this week.
Although Cardi B was performing at the site listed on the incident report when the concertgoer was reportedly injured, the authorities chose not to mention her by name in their statement.
According to earlier reports, Cardi B was performing at Drai's Beach Club in Las Vegas the previous weekend when a spectator hurled a drink at the stage, as shown in online video.
The rapper can be seen singing her 2018 song "Bodak Yellow" in the video while getting doused with liquid from the cup. Security guards raced to the platform and into the crowd, and Cardi B soon reacted by throwing her microphone into the throng.
Another footage from the event that was posted on social media shows Cardi B and her DJ pleading with the audience to "splash" her with water because it is so hot. It's unclear whether this happened before or after the microphone incident.
