Joseph Gamor, a rapper from Ghana who is better known by his stage name Lyrical Joe/LJ, has revealed a fascinating aspect of his career path alongside fellow musician Amerado.
The "5th August 7" rapper believed that even though both musicians had won the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) best rapper award, their artistic paths had not yet met. Lyrical Joe clarified that even if Amerado, a colleague, had received the same honor as him from a year prior, they are still not on an equal footing.
We are both award-winning rappers, and I agree with that, but we are not on an equal footing when it comes to rhyming, the rapper said in an interview with Zeinat Issahaku of Ameyaw Tv. Oh sure, I do believe that it takes a lot to win the VGMA Best Rap Performance Award. Therefore, if it comes to that location, I have one and he has too, but are we similar when it comes to rappers? I'm in a completely separate lane, though.
It will be recalled that both rappers traded some trash tracks in the year 2022. The song The Finish Line by Eno Barony, which included Amerado, served as the catalyst for their 'fight'. On the song, Amerado insulted Lyrical Joe by asserting that he was the bossier rapper.
Before that, Lyrical Joe had won the Best Rap Performance prize at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2022, which some disappointed fans had anticipated Amerado to take home as he had also won the same prize at the 2022 3Music Awards and was hoping to do so at the VGMAs. But it never materialized.
Lyrical Joe quickly returned with a freestyle to restore harmony after finding Amerado's jab offensive. In the scathing freestyle, which also included Kwadwo Sheldon, Lyrical Joe dissed Amerado's art and brought down his sense of superiority.
As this went on, both rappers began tossing jabs at one another about who is the best.
