Public relations has evolved into the keystone of development, comprehension, and cooperation for individuals, organizations, and communities in today's fast-paced and interconnected world.
It is impossible to overstate the profession's crucial contribution to a nation's development, which includes promoting effective communication, fostering relationships, and forming favorable perceptions on both domestic and international levels.
For the industry, the World Public Relations Day Festival was highly exciting. We started the voyage in the last quarter of last year and chose the festival lane because we wanted to enlighten, elevate, and draw the public's and legislators' attention to the value of public relations.
The World PR Day Festival is more than just a celebration; it is a showcase for the skill of building mutual respect, trust, and openness. It provided an opportunity to consider how communication has changed and is still changing as a result of technology advancements and shifting global dynamics.
The third World Public Relations Day Festival was launched with a series of Twitter Spaces, followed by slush events, and finally the main event, the WPRD Festival Summit.
From April through July 16th, 2023, Global Media Alliance will be organizing events with the assistance of industry stakeholders. The WPRD Festival activities—both online and off—were designed to unite experts, decision-makers, PR practitioners, and academics to talk about crucial business-related issues, network, and strengthen the Ghanaian PR community.
The festival's focus was on "Harnessing the Power of Public Relations," which included discussions of ESG & Sustainability, PR x Economy, PR Masterclass, and PR x NextGen Women.
Throughout this celebration, we drilled down into the specifics of contemporary communication, looking at the cutting-edge tactics used by public relations professionals to negotiate a challenging and quickly shifting environment.
The festival's presence of women, with 54% of all speakers being women, is one of my personal highlights. Women with exceptional career experience made up the entire four-person panel for the Festival Summit, which served as the primary event, and they all provided the audience with insightful commentary. Women made up 84% of all MCs, Panel Moderators, and Hosts. We also organized a women-led event in collaboration with Women In PR Ghana to involve the upcoming generation of PR women.
Additionally, we contributed to the festival's "cool factor" by bringing the Boomplay Music Playlist, PR x Sustainability, and our social impact project PR Masterclass for Startups.
We appreciate the assistance in making the festival a success from all of our Partners, Speakers & Hosts, Agencies, Organizations, Industry Practitioners, and Associations.
I also have to thank the people at Global Media Alliance, particularly the core project team behind the WPRD Festival, as well as the Senior Management Team led by our CEO Ernest Boateng.
Yes, this was created with the industry in mind.
Until then, 2024!
