Maradona Yeboah Adjei, best known by his stage names Guru/NKZ, recently gave an explanation for why he decided to 'draw back' from active music.
The 'Lapaz Toyota' hitmaker, known for recording several singles in a single year, disclosed that he is in school and said, "I was also fighting with my own demons during that period [of absence]."
"You get a little slow," he said, "when you have big hopes and a vision and things don't go way you want. The COVID pandemic also significantly slowed me down, said Guru. "Because it felt like I was trapped in the US," she said.
The Chief Executive Officer of NKZ Music stated that despite the formidable obstacles, he had hoped to find a way to keep his fans "fulfilled" and "grounded," but sadly this wasn't happening. He continued, becoming discouraged as a result and deciding, "No, I'm not doing this anymore."
The industry was not rewarding us appropriately for all the work we were doing, Guru continued.I sensed that there was a problem and that I needed to address it. He continued by saying that the idea caused him to "pull back".
He added, emphasizing that "It was not someone telling me I was failing, that all these circumstances "guided me towards investing in other performers. See, I was worn out. I didn't like that repetition was producing the same outcomes for me. As soon as everything started to feel normal, I said, "Let me move back."
The CEO of NKZ disclosed that the crooners he was unfortunate enough to oversee shown "ignorance."
