Fameye, an award -winning singer from Ghana, has said he will turn down any offer to perform at Afronation, a significant Afrobeats music festival, because he is unprepared and lacks the necessary audience.
He maintains that he only delivers top-notch performances and does not want to sacrifice the caliber of his performances, particularly when it involves an international event. Fameye went on to say that most of the so-called Ghanaian international arts organizations are underprepared when they travel to play, which prevents them from drawing large crowds.
The 'Praise' hitmaker said during an interview with Berla Mundi on the Day Show:
Right now, I won't travel to Afronation Portugal if you call me. since I don't have all of these people. I want to do more work so that when I go, I can relate. I also know that I have certain folks there with whose energies I have matched.
What am I going to do there?" he continued. They don't know me because I feel like I should be prepared but I'm not. Even the majority of our so-called worldwide performers struggle to fill venues when they travel abroad. No names will be mentioned. Since 2019, I have had performances in Canada, the United States, Germany, and I have accompanied a few musicians for outdoor performances. However, when we sing, very few Ghanaians join in. Even bashful, they are. Why do you suppose people keep postponing their events? They don't attend.
Fameye addressed the comparison between Ghanaian and Nigerian artists to a larger level. He claimed that Nigerians made an intentional attempt to alter how the world perceived them through music with the help of promoters and investors but the case is not the same in Ghana.
