Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, a renowned highlife musician and songwriter from Ghana, has stated that Julius Kojo Antwi, also known as Kojo Ankwi, cannot be classified as a highlife performer.
He asserts that the 'Medofo pa' himaker is not a Highlife singer because the majority of his tracks are reggae songs.
The "Adwoa" singer, who also works as a producer and composer, admitted during an exclusive interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM's Afro Joint Show that while people have always loved the songs made by the renowned artist (Kojo Antwi), the genres of the songs he produces lean more toward reggae than highlife.
The tradition goes, "We can't call Kojo Antwi a Highlife musician because you hear more of reggae than Highlife, but people love it."
