Vevo's Ctrl casts a well-deserved spotlight on these musicians because they are deserving of it. Following performances by Rick Ross, Common, Rapsody, Fat Joe, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Fabolous, and others, Lloyd Banks will take the stage.
In the early 2000s, a group of rappers with tough, street-ready rap styles attained national success, including Queens emcee and co-founder of G-Unit Lloyd Banks. With his boyhood pals Tony Yayo and 50 Cent, who were all from Jamaica, Queens, Banks founded the group G-Unit, who went on to redefine the phrase "street marketing" with a succession of independently produced albums that had unique songs and impressive artwork.
Along with his fellow G-Unit members, Banks experienced platinum album sales and chart-topping singles with solo projects including his 2004 debut, The Hunger for More. After a series of well-known singles, Banks spent the most of the 2010s concentrating on mixtapes and stand-alone songs.
Following his breakup with G-Unit in 2018, Banks released The Course of the Inevitable in 2021, which debuted at number 100 on the Billboard 200. He then released The Course of the Inevitable 2 and The Course of the Inevitable III: Pieces of My Pain in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
