She claimed that since they worked just as hard as secular artists, they deserved to be paid equally.
The "Obi Nyane Me" singer claimed in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that churches and event planners regard their presence as divinely ordained, thus they don't see the need to compensate them adequately.
"Listen, let me tell you that event planners never pay us as much as our counterparts on the opposite side. No matter how successful a gospel musician becomes, they are always paid less than even a young, successful secular artist. According to her, no A-list gospel musician in Ghana could possibly earn as much money as an A-list secular musician.
"Event organizers and the churches that invite us feel that we do this for Christ, so why should we charge a lot of money," she continued. Gospel musicians, on the other hand, are excellent performers. Even though some of these secular musicians have better stagecraft than we do, they make considerably more money than we do, she remarked.
Gospel singers invest more money in making albums, singles, and even shooting music videos, according to Patience Nyarko, who emphasized that they deserve to be paid handsomely.
Gospel artists typically release albums rather than singles. We also spend a lot of money on the production of music videos, just like secular performers do. If for nothing else, we ought to get paid more, but right now, that isn't the case, she bemoaned.
