Four suspects in a heist were detained at a Chatsworth, California, home at roughly 8:30 a.m., according to an LAPD spokesman who spoke with PEOPLE. The house was listed as the rapper's present place of residence.
The LAPD spokesperson stated that the officers arrived at the scene prepared to execute the search and with a warrant in hand.
Polo G, whose real name is Taurus Bartlett, may be seen in photos taken outside of his house with his arms up. He is seen in front of a police car being handcuffed by the authorities.
Bradford Cohen, Polo G's lawyer, told the media outlet: "Polo is being held under the pretext that the police need to confirm that he is not a convicted felon since there was a supposedly discovered firearm in the property. He is not and has never been convicted of a crime. Any prior accusations against him that I managed to have dropped are all public records.
Cohen added that he and Zoe Aron, another member of his legal team, are not allowed to visit Polo G while he is allegedly being held against the law.
Cohen clarified: "The incident involved someone staying in Polo's home and not Polo directly" in a statement to hip-hop publication XXL. Polo has been detained by the police while they'verify' that he is not a felon on the loose after they claim a gun was discovered in the house. It is well known that Polo has never been convicted of a crime and is not currently.
Cohen said in his statement's conclusion, "I personally got all of his accusations against him in Miami dropped when we believed he had been unlawfully detained and charged. Someone will have to answer for these additional wrongdoings because they have refused to provide us access to our client, which is also an illegal and unethical conduct.
The 24-year-old rapper, who is best known for the song "Rapstar," was previously detained in Miami in June 2021 after a traffic check. This arrest took place just one day after the release of his album "Hall of Fame."
