Rex Omar, a producer and musician from Ghana who specializes in highlife, has admitted that he had issues with his religion since they weren't supportive of his musical goals.
He admitted that he even stopped going to church after they refused to provide him financial support so he could record a song that ultimately became popular.
On August 16, 2023, Rex Omar claimed that he encountered difficulties when he wanted to pursue music. He made this statement on the Asaase Breakfast Show. His father was dubious since he believed that musicians were not well-off in those days.
I used to be quite involved with the church, Rex Omar recalled. We would travel to Atwea Mountain to pray and do other things. I consequently asked my pastor one day if the church could contribute to the cost of my recording since I wanted to visit the recording studio. However, the pastor informed me that the church board was unable to provide the money. I made the decision to cease attending church at that point.
"I discovered someone outside the church who was willing to support my recording," he added. Unexpectedly, the gospel song's recording rose to prominence.
Rex Omar underlined that despite not going to church, he still has a close relationship with his faith.
