To the business backed by Carlyle, Litmus Music, Katy Perry has sold the rights to her music.
Various stories claim that the catalog sold for a staggering $225 million. The five albums that Katy Perry released between 2008 and 2020—"One of the Boys," "Teenage Dream," "Prism," "Witness," and "Smile"—are covered by the agreement, as are Katy Perry's master recording rights and publication rights. The masters for the albums are still under Universal Music Group's ownership.
In the 2010s, Katy Perry dominated the music industry. Her music production has slowed down as of late, and she is now concentrating on her Las Vegas residency, starting a baby with her partner Orlando Bloom, and her charitable activities.
In the meantime, Keith Urban's master recording rights were purchased by Litmus in December of the same year as its December 2022 launch. Hank Forsyth, co-founder and CEO of Litmus, commented on acquiring Katy's music, saying, "Katy's songs are a crucial component of the worldwide cultural fabric. We are extremely appreciative to be collaborating once more with such a reliable colleague, whose honesty is evident in all she does.
