On Tuesday, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were announced.
With a total of eight nominations, Taylor Swift took the lead. These included artist of the year, video of the year, and song of the year for her popular 2022 song "Anti-Hero." She took home the trophy in every televised category in which she was nominated.
Since the category's introduction in 2017, Beyoncé, Doja, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, and Shakira have all been nominated for artist of the year alongside Swift. This is a first. The winner of the Video Vanguard Award was Shakira. The night also saw the debut of the Best Afrobeats category.
Among the artists who performed during the ceremony were Fall Out Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Shakira, and Demi Lovato.
