Jujuboy makes a statement right away when working with Canadian production team Banx and Ranx. His opening phrase, "Money don't buy no charisma," sets the tone for a tune that is filled with swag and energy as well as the accompanying Eté meurtier-directed video.
Jujuboy, the first singer to be signed under the collaboration between Nigerian entertainment companies Aristokrat Records and Island Def Jam (Universal Music), is making waves with his singular combination of afrobeats, R&B, and rap influences.
Along with his contemporaries Rema and Santi, Jujuboy emerged from Edo State, and at the young age of eight, he started his musical career in the exciting world of his church choir. His sound today still reflects the influences of his upbringing in the church, which he acquired by learning music production from a neighbor. By the age of sixteen, armed with Fruity Loops and a dependable USB mic, he was making his own beats in his grandmother's home.
Since then, he's had the chance to work with artists like Jidenna, Adekunle Gold, Gospelonthebeat, and many more as well as create tracks for Seyi Shay's album "Big Girl" and serve as Simi's opening act on tour. The first two singles from his eagerly awaited future EP are "Spaceman," which gained support in France from RFI, Tsugi, TARMAC, KIF Radio, and more, and "James Bond." His highly anticipated upcoming EP is set for release later this year. The songs expand on his past hits, "I Dey There," "Enjoyment," and "Gimmie Love."
