The host of UTV's United Showbiz, Mzgee, has vehemently refuted claims that the program purposefully broaches political subjects in order to advance the objectives of any certain political party.
She emphasized that United Showbiz's primary area of interest is entertainment-related concerns, not political ones.
MzGee clarified these points after returning to the show's set following an upsetting occurrence. During a live broadcast of United Showbiz, a group of young men affiliated with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) had assaulted the UTV studios. The National Media Commission, the Ministry of Information, and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) all strongly criticized this occurrence, which has raised questions regarding press freedom.
Celebrities, like other Ghanaians, have the right to voice their opinions on issues of national significance, according to Mzgee. "We don't do politics," she said, "but when a trending event happens, we also have a right to talk about it since creatives also pay tax, buy fuel, and equally seek development."
