Famous Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known by his stage name Medikal, has declared that public criticism should not be directed toward the clothing choices he and other celebrities choose. Instead, fashion should be a subject of personal expression.
The rapper "Sowutuom" claims that fashion critics shouldn't be concerned about what celebrities and artists wear to events because they typically use social media to criticize these people for "allegedly" dressing inappropriately or wearing the same thing over and over.
In a one-on-one interview with Bryt TV, the award-winning rapper—who is renowned for his unique style both on and off the stage—addressed the frequently passionate views regarding celebrity fashion.
"I believe that people like disparaging artists and even their friends. However, I fail to see why my attire should be a source of concern for you. My manager purchased a black Nike Air Force for me.
Despite the fact that I have worn it over 50 million times, some may believe that as an artist, I ought to be modifying it. Thus, I can wear it 100 times if I feel like it," he said.
Medikal also related an unexpected incident in which a fan asked him why, rather than switching shoes, he wore a certain pair of shoes to events more frequently. He chose not to reply to him, though.
"I didn't want to respond to a fan who asked me why I had been wearing a certain shoe on social media after I wore it for an interview," he added.
The rapper, who emphasized that clothing choices are a form of self-expression, urged the public to respect the different fashion preferences of artists.
He went on to say that analyzing their clothing choices is not as important as appreciating the music and craftsmanship.
