Former home assistant to Ghanaian music sensation Kuami Eugene, Mary, has opened up about the difficulties she had working for the well-known musician.
The former housekeeper revealed in an exclusive interview about her experiences that when she first started working for the musician, she was paid a pitiful Gh400 a month. Nevertheless, her supervisor increased her pay by Gh100 throughout the years.
“He was paying me Gh400 when I first started working with him. But after a year, he increased it by Gh100, so my pay now stands at Gh500. He continued doing so the next year until he recently fired me, according to Mary.
When asked why she was fired, Mary said that the "Monica" hitmaker's female companion had dispatched her on an errand, but she had come home late that day.
I was fired by him for being tardy in returning from an errand. To be honest, I arrived home late that day. I believe I arrived home after 12 am that day after being asked to deliver something by his female companion.
I told him why I had returned late when he inquired. He asked me if I was aware that, should something horrible happen to me, Ghanaians would hold him accountable. After that, he offered me two choices: either I pack up my belongings or I get paid Gh400 (after the raise)," the woman remarked.
