Rev. Abraham Lamptey, a well-known gospel musician and General Overseer of Believers House of Worship International, has said that he has no problem inviting secular artists to play at his church or sharing the stage with them. [YouTube/i2_jQUbCPvY?si=tHlXfT32jeNOawQf]
The man of God says he sees nothing wrong with hanging out with the so-called "artistes of the world." He went on to say that while many secular songs convey themes of love, optimism, and social justice, others do not advocate for immoral or bad beliefs.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Rev. Lamptey said as much. He went on to say in detail,
Initially, what exactly is gospel? It simply means sharing the gospel, which is what the majority of the secular songs currently in circulation do. Consider the song "Bebrebe Yi" by Amakye Dede, a highlife musician. It's a fully realized gospel tune. Just take a look at the lyrics and the meaning they convey. You can't claim that music doesn't spread positive messages.
Furthermore, he is not alone. Many of them, like Kofi Kinaata, have amazing tunes that fit the category of gospel, he continued.
"I don't mind playing with secular musicians or having them perform at my church," he went on. Collabos are essentially an evangelistic medium. We are all winning souls for God, and I have no issues at all if it takes a secular artist with a large following to do that. To win souls for Himself, God can employ anyone. The individual is not need to be a gospel musician or a man of God.
