Rapper Eno Barony, a native of Ghana and the only woman to ever win Best Rap Performance at the esteemed Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, has become involved in a current feud between Strongman and Kweku Smoke, two of her fellow rappers.
The performer, who calls herself "The Queen of Kings," has counseled fellow rappers to treat women and kids with dignity when engaging in rap feuds.
Her remarks were in reference to the increasingly common practice of male rappers, such as Strongman, Medikal, and Kweku Smoke, abusing their opponents' female partners and even their kids during "beefs."
Eno Barony said in a Kumasi interview with NY DJ on Y102.5FM that it was terrible that women had to suffer whenever guys came to "play."
"Women suffer in Ghana anytime there is a dispute. I'll take it from my brother, Medikal, Strongman, and my best friend: Nana Ama endured suffering, right? It crossed across, and Fela Makafui was also harmed. Women suffered from insults even in my day, she remarked.
Eno Barony thinks that "beefs" should be poetic rather than derogatory.
"I think beefs ought to be poetic. The insults—I'm not sure. For me, it doesn't work.
She continued by giving the male rappers advice to treat women and kids with enough respect so as to keep them out of their "beefs."
People ought to show women enough respect. What, exactly, did they do? When the boys are playing, why should the ladies constantly lose out? In the end, you two are able to reconcile with ease. What about what you stated regarding the women? Do you believe she will grant you forgiveness? The rudeness has to end; it's not cool," she stated.
Eno Barony is now on a media tour to promote her new single Low Key. This year, she has released four (4) tracks.
