Renowned media personality and businesswoman in Ghana, Deloris Frimpong Manso, better known by her stage name Delay, has revealed her life narrative, illuminating her bumpy path through the country's media landscape.
Delay claims that when she initially entered the field, her finances were precarious. She said that because she was really poor and couldn't afford certain simple items that make a lady look beautiful, people called her all kinds of derogatory insults, including "unattractive and ugly."
She noted that during that time, it was difficult to purchase basic essentials like body lotion and nice clothing. Nevertheless, she never gave up or let that undermine her confidence because she understood what she wanted to do.
This claim was made by the media mogul, who also serves as Delay Foods' CEO, in an exclusive interview with Pure FM, a Kumasi radio station.
"If you look at where I came from, you can see that I'm truly a warrior. People said I wasn't gorgeous or had the right looks when I initially entered the industry.Poverty was the situation. Poverty is a bad thing since it can make you appear really unattractive. That poverty is a deadly disease is a fact.
I didn't have enough money to have a nice body lotion or a nice clothing for myself since I was broke. People "somehow" spotted me, then. They argued that I was overweight and unfair—that is, that my appearance wasn't typical. However, none of these things deterred me—rather, they helped me grow into the person I am today," she remarked.
