The Monumental Tour project creator, French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot, is being invited by the Eiffel Tower to an unprecedented artistic collaboration to rediscover the iconic monument through a unique fusion of heritage, electronic music, lighting, and performances on the centennial of Gustave Eiffel's passing. This private streamed concert will be aired on French television and social media on December 27, 2023, the anniversary of Gustave Eiffel's death.
The Monumental Tour concept is a travel that creates links between the past and the future by fusing electronic music, history, and digital art through breathtaking visual performances, providing a modern perspective on our monuments. By presenting electronic music in unusual settings, it seeks to democratize it. This project has been commended in prominent historical places like the Palais Royal and the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey. It has also been honored at the Institut de France and supported by the French National Commission for UNESCO.
Michael Canitrot will cap off 2023 with this historic performance in the heart of the Eiffel Tower, following the success of five "sold-out" shows for his Monumental Tour, which included performances in front of over 22,000 spectators at Place Stanislas in Nancy, France, and over 10,000 at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, Italy.
Michael Canitrot will play a captivating DJ performance that reflects his previous concerts, slicing between melodic techno and progressive house, during this amazing show. He will play a preview of his upcoming song "CHANGE," which he co-wrote with legendary house music producer Roland Clark and will be released this Friday, December 15, along with the compilation "CYCLE." Ten tracks total from two years of songwriting inspired by the outstanding performances of the Monumental Tour are included in this compilation.
Along with performances by guest artists like the mezzo-soprano singer Yana Mann, the contemporary dancer Abblaye Diop, who is passionate about electronic music, and the pianist Yann Dulché, who combines electro beats with classical notes, there will be a stunning lighting display in the Tower during the show. Gustave Eiffel will be voiced by the acclaimed French actor Philippe Torreton, who will also provide a compelling interpretation to lead the audience through this audiovisual experience.
This unique design pays homage to Gustave Eiffel's audacity and inventiveness while providing a new angle on the monument. The program "Monumental Tour celebrates Eiffel" will debut on Michael Canitrot's and the Eiffel Tower's YouTube and Facebook pages on December 27, 2023, the anniversary of Gustave Eiffel's death, at 9:00 PM. It will then air on the French TV channel CSTAR at 10:50 PM. The fifty-minute show will thereafter air on C8 and be replayed on MyCanal, the video network for Canal+ group channels.
