After his triumphant performance at the Grande Arena in Accra, Ghana, over the weekend, Sonnie Badu has been making headlines for every possible reason.
Among these is his remark regarding the paucity of funding for events pertaining to the gospel. The Minister expressed his dismay at the lack of attendance from many who had pledged to support his event, "Rhythms of Africa," during a recent appearance on Okay FM.
Dr. Kwaku Oteng, CEO of Angel Group of Companies, is one of them.
Sonnie Badu, sounding extremely unhappy, disclosed that Dr. Kweku Oteng had not only broken his pledge to support his event, but had also declined to take his calls even after making assurances.
"A number of sponsors disappointed me, including Dr. Kweku Oteng, who refused to answer my calls after having committed to support and participate. I was let down by him.
Following what appears to be a thoughtful reconsideration of the remarks, Sonnie Badu has apologized.
The musician expressed his dissatisfaction in Dr. Kwaku Oteng once more and gave an explanation of why it hurt so much when he failed to appear for the second time in a statement posted on Instagram.
He said that it was very annoying for people to hold Dr. Kwaku Oteng responsible for the event's success when, in spite of his claims, he had nothing to do with it.
Many people have now expressed their unhappiness with the Minister's suggestion that he withdraw the apology since it is insufficient, and thus far, the apology has not gone over well.
