After receiving a lot of backlash for his antisemitic remarks, Kanye West apologized to the Jewish community, expressing regret for any hurt his words may have caused and asking for forgiveness.
Last year, the rapper—who now goes as Ye—created a stir on social media with his inconsistent posts. It seemed like he posted something with a Swastika inside a Star of David. He also gave Adolf Hitler, the Nazi leader, admiration.
"To the Jewish community, I humbly apologize for any impromptu outburst. The musician posted in Hebrew on Instagram, saying, "I sincerely apologize for any hurt or disrespect I may have caused. It was not my intent to hurt or disrespect anyone."
Following a series of antisemitic outbursts in interviews and on social media, Ye lost his endorsement deals for Yeezy products with Adidas (ADSGn.DE) and Gap (GPS.N). At the time, his social media accounts were also restricted as a result of his remarks.
Ye posted in Hebrew on Instagram on Tuesday, saying, "I am committed to begin with myself and to learn from this experience in order to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future."
"I value your forgiveness and am dedicated to fostering healing and unity."
