At the recent World Football Summit in Saudi Arabia, Juliet Bawuah, the current Sports Journalist of the Year for Ghana, chaired a panel of prominent individuals in the sports world.
She moderated the discussion "Level the playing field: Tapping fan-engagement based partnerships in the Middle East & Africa region" and welcomed Mounir Zok of N3XT Sports, Denise Menasan of Neilsen Sports, Christoph Winterling of Bologna FC, and Hasan Ekamah of the Confederation of African Football.
Bawuah held her own, encouraging the panelists to share their diverse perspectives and views on the matter. Other well-known figures from the sports world attended the session; they had traveled to the Summit with thousands of other people on December 12 and 13.
Following the Summit, Bawuah described how she eventually advanced to moderate at the WFS.
"A process spanning three years. At the World Football Summit, I was able to finally moderate. I finally had the opportunity to sit on a panel of eminent figures in sport, including representatives from CAF, Bologna FC, the reputable Nielsen Sports, and N3XT Sports, after COVID interrupted my first invitation to be a moderator and prevented me from accepting the last one because of a scheduling conflict during the World Cup," she wrote on her Facebook page.
"Congratulations to the WFS leadership on a successful event in Saudi Arabia," she continued. As the Africa Women's Sports Summit's founder, I'm taking away some important lessons from this.
