November 11, 2023, at Patty's Event Centre in East Legon, Accra, will mark the inaugural Fashion for Change project organized by 5star University College.
Wilson Richbill, the President and Founder of 5Star University College, states that the project's goals are to inspire firms to use environmentally friendly production processes, develop eco-conscious customer behavior, and advance ethical and sustainable fashion practices.
He went on to say that the initiative's goal is to enable people to take educated decisions that lead to a more sustainable future by bringing attention to the connection between fashion and climate change.
"With the globe experiencing hitherto unseen environmental issues, the fashion industry is coming to terms with its part in fueling climate change. The leaders of 5Star University College, however, think that this insight holds a significant potential to spur constructive change. The "Fashion for Change" project, which seeks to transform the industry by encouraging sustainability and increasing awareness of the dangers of climate change, emerges as a ray of hope in Ghana and throughout Africa. "This transformative initiative aims to promote a new era of conscious consumerism and responsible production practices within the fashion industry, with a core theme focused on the dangers of environmental degradation," he continued.
The event, with the theme "Fashion for Change: Combating the Dangers of Climate Change," will bring together important figures from several industries. Through their outstanding achievements, the students of 5Star University College will draw attention to the risks associated with climate change.
As one of Accra, Ghana's top schools for fashion, media, filmmaking, IT, and business, 5STAR UNIVERSITY COLLEGE has partnered with the University College's SRC to launch an initiative aimed at resolving environmental issues in local communities.
