Ghanaian musician Sonnie Badu, who is living in the UK, recently opened up about the financial details of his well-received Rhythms of Africa performance, revealing a hefty expense of around $180,000.
In a recent interview with Okay FM, he denied reports that he had sold his Rolex watch just for the occasion, emphasizing that the cost had exceeded that sum.
He expressed his disappointment with the sponsors, mentioning in particular Dr. Kweku Oteng, who had promised to help but had not returned calls or messages. Even though they have been friends for a long time, Badu expressed her dissatisfaction, bringing attention to the difficulties gospel musicians face in getting funding for such performances.
Despite financial difficulties and unfulfilled sponsor pledges, Badu's concert, which took place on December 9, 2023, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, demonstrated his determination to providing an incredible musical experience.
