The 2009 incident involving Chris Brown's brutal attack on his girlfriend Rihanna turned into one of the year's major news events.
For the attack, Brown was given a community service mandate in addition to five years of probation.
Starr responded to the BBC's Focus on Africa podcast by saying, "I'm prepared, I'm ready," when asked if she is aware that she would face criticism for touring with Brown in light of the aforementioned assault. I'll let folks do their thing, I won't reply, and I'll simply go to work.
"I try to keep my work and Rihanna separate, but Rihanna is my queen."
Starr, who has quickly rose to prominence as one of Africa's most well-known performers, stated that Rihanna is her "number one" and that, "by God's grace," she would like to work with the legendary Barbados native.
Starr's second album, The Year I Turned 21, was just completed in the studio.
