Tems also offers a sneak peek at her new album, "Born in the Wild," for her admirers.
Please feel free to give Eddie Francis credit on Apple Music 1 for the key quotes below. A video will be available soon.
Tems talks to Apple Music on the affection she receives from others.
Eddie Francis: People sometimes react to you in a way that makes you feel loved. Not even a like will do. Does that become strange? For some reason, we feel as though we know you, but you don't know us.
Tems: Probably getting used to it. I'm not sure why, though. I ask myself, "Are you truly feeling this way? Why? Why are you fond of me? I'm not sure, but I believe I've become accustomed to it.

Eddie Francis: They say things like, "Oh my God, it's Tems," when they see you. And from our previous conversation, I know you're very spiritual and energetic, and I also know you have to feel it. When did you understand that your relationships with folks who love your music are different?
Tems: I believe it's just the response and the intensity of emotion in real life; I always sense this unadulterated energy. And I thought, "Hey, this isn't right." This isn't how things usually work. If it's anything like, "Oh sure. I think you're really awesome. And I'm not sure, but it could be the case. There's simply so much love sometimes—I just—it's crazy.
Tems on writing "Love Me JeJe," her new single...
In other words, I went to supper with my girlfriends and two of my pals. We simply think, "Well, let's have a cute dinner." It will be adorable. My buddies constantly tell me thereafter that you never show us your Tems side. While everyone else is Tems, my pals don't feel the same way about me while I'm around. I'm this chick, that's all. "Oh, you never take us to the studio," they exclaim. We have no idea whether you are like... Do you have a double? Are you wondering what that is? I then stated, "All right, tonight we're heading to the studio, and you guys are going to sing?" They exclaimed, "Oh my god, this is crazy." How come? After that, we proceeded to the studio, where two of my producers created the beats Spax and Guilty, which they then sent to me as a challenge. Yes, you definitely can't speak Nigerian. I'm positive you're not up for this jam.
I was like, "It's in the back," after that. After playing it, I said to my friends, "Okay, let's all go wild and take turns." Yes, you perform freestyle, you do. My companion then performed "Love Me Jeje, Love Me Tender." My other friend was also shouting at that point. And I thought, "This is crazy vibe, actually." I adore this atmosphere. This will remain in the song. I wanted to honor the original song since I adore it, so I performed a freestyle of my own. It had such a cute atmosphere. That song is so much like my mom's. "Jeje, love me." Seyi Sodimu is the artist of the original song. It seemed appropriate, and the original song, "Love Me Jeje," is a Nigerian favorite as well.
Tems on the meaning of the word "JeJe"
The premise of the song Love Me Jeje, Love Me Tender is expressed by the African word jeje, which also simply means "love me softly, take your time, love me unconditionally, and show me good love." That's its meaning. That is the concept of "Love Me JeJe."

Tems on the meaning of "NEPA" and how she employs it in the song.
To put it simply, NEPA is Nigeria's electricity provider. Furthermore, electricity isn't always available to us around-the-clock. Thus, as soon as the lights come on or the energy is restored, everyone can be heard yelling, "Hey, there's electricity now," from their neighbors. You essentially electrify me when you turn me on like the energy.

Tems on what Born in the Wild, her upcoming album, will likely contain
In actuality, "Born in the Wild" is my path. It's about my identity and the experiences I've experienced thus far. And I had the distinct impression that the life I had been accustomed to, the life I had lived previously, was like a wilderness. And it's not really any more so; well, I was raised in Lagos, so that makes me a little bit different, but the state of being is more important than the location. I lived in a wilderness where a lot of things happened and I learnt a lot of lessons that helped me become the person I am today. It is essentially emerging from the wild. Thus, Born in the Wild is essentially about that.
I've got to take a step back to make sure I'm being honest with myself and to simply start the healing process after all the trauma. I believe I had to unlearn a lot of what I had encountered prior to Tems. And this record is merely a fresh way for me to express myself, keeping my identity at its core.
