The much awaited limited drama series "The Big Cigar," which tells the tale of Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton's flight to Cuba, has debuted with a first peek on Apple TV+. Executive produced by Jim Hecht, Joshuah Bearman, and NAACP Image Award winner Janine Sherman Barrois, the six-episode drama will have its global premiere on May 17. The first two episodes will be executive produced and directed by the renowned award-winning actor, producer, and director Don Cheadle. New episodes will be released for streaming every Friday until June 14.

In addition to Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, P. J. Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie, and Glynn Turman, André Holland plays Huey P. Newton. Based on a landmark, eponymous Playboy Magazine article written by executive producer Joshuah Bearman ("Argo"), "The Big Cigar" is a largely real narrative. In the show, legendary Hollywood producer Bert Schneider helps Black Panther Party founder Newton flee from the FBI to Cuba. The ostensibly complex strategy devolves into a crazy adventure that entails a phony film production gone horribly wrong!
