The first two years of a four-year degree in the arts are equal to this two-year, 60-credit (20 course) undergraduate curriculum. It acts as a qualification to join the workforce or as a means of preparing students to transfer to research or teaching universities to finish their bachelor's degree. If all other entry requirements are satisfied, the AA degree is approved for transfer into bachelor's degree programs at University Canada West (UCW) and all other degree-granting schools in British Columbia.
You can transfer from any British Columbia degree-granting institution, such as UCW, into a bachelor's degree program upon completion of your AA degree. As an alternative, you can pursue an Associate of Arts degree and finish the course of study with an extra 30 credit hours in accordance with the requirements of your province.

The most widely used global source of comparison data on university performance, the QS Stars higher education rating system, awarded UCW a 5-star grade in September 2021.
Institutions that pass the QS Stars audit process are awarded a rating in at least eight of the thirteen major categories, with an overall score ranging from zero to five stars. We received four stars for internationalization and five stars for teaching, employability, online learning, academic development, social responsibilities, and inclusivity. QS Stars has awarded a 5 Star grade to UCW, making it the first university in British Columbia and the third in Canada. In the United States and Canada, there are just seven institutions that have earned a 5-star rating.

First Level: University Foundation I
Tier 1 courses expose you to a range of fields and topics while establishing the fundamental research and writing skills required for university study.
