A series of media and communications courses form the program's core. In addition, it incorporates business courses to produce an interdisciplinary degree that offers a strong basis for employment in media and communications companies and other business roles related to communications. Elective Area – Communications Management
Communications management is one of the areas of communications that is expanding the fastest. This elective topic prepares students to manage complex communications projects and departments in any industry by applying selected advanced business courses to communications tasks.

Institutions that pass the QS Stars audit process are awarded a rating in at least eight of the thirteen major categories, with an overall score ranging from zero to five stars. QS Stars has awarded a 5 Star grade to UCW, making it the first university in British Columbia and the third in Canada.
