BIOGRAPHY OF
KWESI MANDEM
Lopez Appiah Kubi a.k.a Kwesi Mandem was born on (December 7, 2005) is a young and talented musician from Ghana.
Born into the brilliant city of
Nkoranza in the Bono East Region, Kwesi Mandem has quickly come through the
music scene and is now one of the name to be reckoned with owed to his devotion
and knack for his music.
Kwesi Mandem started experimenting with music while at Yeboah Asuamah Senior High School. This was the time, when his interest in the craft began to be a career ambition.
Though his focus is in music, his education played a huge
part shaping his discipline and creative thinking, allowing him to weave his
academic background in with his musical endeaviors.
On the 20th of August, 2020, the school in 2020 to where Kwesi Mandem (Yaw Bosumtwi) first formally began his music journey was at 18.
He began in the industry during the very height of a global pandemic, and was positively ascendant, and very impactful.
Kwesi Mandem wrote and developed his unique
sound drawing from personal experiences, the rich music heritage of Ghana and
incorporating that within with the influence of an international audience. That
is his life, that is his struggle and the life of fashionable Ghanaian youth.
In just two years Kwesi Mandem has trained his eyes on this major milestone in his career by winning the highly coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ award at the 2022 TMA Awards.
The award placed him as one of the most credible
new faces the Ghanaian music industry had. Such a prestigious award came early
to his career and helped boost his confidence while also bringing him to
collaborate with, and perform on, bigger stages.
Kwesi Mandem’s success comes from his ability to seamlessly marry traditional Ghanaian rhythms with modern musical styles, a unique voice among African musicians that boost his success.
His songs nearly always dwelt on the themes of love, life’s travails, hope and endurance; spectators have always resonated to them, more specifically among the young.
It’s his story of flying
from his hometown of Pruaso – a small town in Bono East District – to being a
known nationally recognized artist that shows what he’s capable of.
Kwesi Mandem is truly hard at work in his craft, constantly giving us something new and pushing the envelope as to what is possible in his music.
He isn’t just about initiating hits, he’s about making music that resonates. His current songs out now are Obaasima, Karishika, Adepa and soon releasing a new one titled Kaya Girl.
He wants to get younger musicians to dream big and not let any
part of your background stop you from what you want to achieve.
As he rises on the music scene, Kwesi Mandem is working on new stuffs which would take his career to another level.
His accomplishments are very good
incentives for a promising future ahead. Kwesi Mandem is well supported by his
family and growing fan base and will certainly go down as one of the key
Ghanaians music personalities of these African times.
